In the past five years, XJTU expanded further cooperation with institutions like MIT, UC Berkeley, University of Oxford, University of New South Wales, University of Minnesota, Politecnico di Milano and Ecole Supérieure d'Electricité across the world.

XJTU cooperated with international research institutions at creating 15 research centres, hosting 145 international conferences, building 7 Bases of Talents Introduction to University Disciplines, and setting up China International Youth Center with State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China within five years.

The University Alliance of Silk Road initiated by XJTU has already had a far-reaching effect abroad. 136 universities from 31 countries have participated into UASR.
