On February 27, the UNESCO International Engineering Science and Technology Knowledge Center Silk Road Training Base（IKEST）officially settled in Xi'an Jiaotong University. It will train tens of thousands of engineering and technology talents for the countries along "The Belt and Road".

The International Engineering Science and Technology Knowledge Center was established by UNESCO based on the Chinese Academy of Engineering. It provides consulting, research, education and other knowledge services to policy makers and engineering and technology workers in the world, especially in developing countries. Since November 2015, as the initiator and the president unit of the University Alliance of the Silk Road, Xi'an Jiaotong University has taken the initiative to undertake the construction of the Silk Road Sub-center, aiming at the talent needs of the countries along "The Belt and Road".

It has held 7 special training sessions in the fields of big data, medicine and Internet of things, covering nearly 500 students from 55 countries and regions. It had explored a development path for "The Belt and Road" talent training and given full play to the advantages and leading role of higher education. Silk Road Training Base is the first international engineering science and technology knowledge center training base set up by UNESCO in domestic universities.
