On the morning of July 10, 2018, 2018 summer camp of University Alliance of the New Silk Road (UASR) opened in the XJTU. Xi Guang, Vice President of XJTU was present at the opening ceremony and delivered a welcoming address, and ZAMIR AWAN, Director of the China Studies Center of the National University of Sciences and Technology of Pakistan, made a speech as the summer camp teacher representative; students from 13 universities in the countries along "The Belt and Road" and the UASR attended the opening ceremony.
As the saying goes, "It is such a delight to have friends coming from afar." Xi Guang indicated that the summer camp aimed to deepen the understanding of campers in China's social economy, history, culture and technological development by learning Chinese, to promote the construction of the University Alliance of the New Silk Road. Xi Guang stated that it would be an era of rapid growth in knowledge and high-speed development of Internet technology in the future, and more and more knowledge is freely available on the Internet, which determines that higher education will pay more attention to the cultivation of students' abilities during development in the future. He hoped that all campers would be able to gain a lot in the summer camp.
As the teacher representative of the summer camp of the University Alliance of the New Silk Road, ZAMIR AWAN said, "You are lucky, congratulations to you"; China's economy has developed rapidly with continuously improving international status in recent years, and it is worth celebrating that he has the opportunity to come to China and experience China's university education as well as language and culture. He hoped that campers from all countries would cherish the opportunity of the summer camp, strengthen communication and exchanges, deeply understand China and improve their knowledge and vision. ZAMIR AWAN added that China and Pakistan have always kept in close contact with each other in various fields, including politics and economy, and Pakistan warmly welcomes friends from all over the world to visit and exchange opinions.
Nikanorova Mariia, a camper from the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, made a speech as a student representative. She said that she is very happy to come to China and study together with friends from all over the world. She briefly introduced the construction and cultural atmosphere of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, and expressed her gratitude and expectations for the summer camp of the University Alliance of the New Silk Road.
Representatives from 13 universities of the University Alliance of the New Silk Road and countries along "The Belt and Road" exchanged their opinions. Students representatives from Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Belarusian State Technological University, Nazarbayev University of Kazakhstan, UniversitéParis Diderot-Paris 7, Caspian State University of Technology and Engineering of Kazakhstan, the University of Western Australia, National University of Sciences and Technology of Pakistan, International University of Kyrgyzstan, Moscow State University, Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Pakistan Aerospace University, South Kazakhstan State University and Xi'an Jiaotong University introduced their universities in academic construction, history and culture, promoting the mutual communication and understanding.
In the following 10 days, the campers will deeply study China's language and culture, understand China's economic construction and social development, experience the long history of the Chinese nation as well as the Silk Road spirit of "solidarity and mutual trust, equality and mutual benefit, inclusiveness and mutual learning, win-win cooperation, and mutual development" in the starting point of the ancient Silk Road of Xi'an, the ancient capital of 13 dynasties, to make contributions to promoting the construction of the University Alliance of the New Silk Road and enhancing the communication among universities of the UASR.
