The Belt and Road advanced professional development program in power and energy 2019 has opened at Xi'an Jiaotong University.

The program is co-organized by Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), State Grid of China Technology College (SGTC) and the Hongkong Electric Company, Limited (HK Electric).

Coordinated by XJTU-PolyU Silk Road International School of Engineering, which is a collaboration between XJTU and PolyU for talent nurturing and research collaboration in Belt and Road countries and regions, the purpose of this program is to facilitate communication and foster long-term collaboration in the electric power industry.

It provides a platform for connection and technology exchange among senior executives and researchers of enterprises, government units and higher education institutions.

"It is the first of its kind project in both mainland China and Hong Kong with cross-regional, multicultural, systematic and innovative elements incorporated," said Wang Shuguo, President of Xi'an Jiaotong University during his welcome speech.

The three-year program features a workshop organized for about 30 participants annually.

The workshop contents include exchange activities and field studies on the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, and Belt and Road countries and regions.

This year, 25 experts in the field of energy and power from 13 countries and regions along the silk road enrolled in the program including the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Thailand, Malaysia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Russia, Myanmar, Brazil, Philippines and Kazakhstan.
