On Aug 30- Sep.1th, the launching ceremony and academic reports of theSino-Pak Joint Research Lab for Drug Safetywere successfully held by School of Pharmacy of Xi’an Jiaotong University.The establishment of Sino-Pak Joint Research Lab for Drug Safety is one of the first batch of sub-alliance funded projects of Silk Road university alliance in our university. It has taken more than half a year for planning, approving and formally establishing. During this period, the Center for Drug Policy and Safety Research of Xi’an Jiaotong University has signed memorandums of cooperation with more than 20 universities and research organizations in Pakistan, including Punjab University, University of Baluchistan, Quaid-i-Azam University, University of Veterinary Animal Science and Institutions etc.
On Aug 31th, as one of the opening activities of entering Western China Science & Technology Innovation Harbor of Medical Research Institute, Mr. Yang Qi, vice-director of Health Science Center of Xi 'an Jiaotong University, Prof. Fang Yu, vice-dean of School of Pharmacy, and foreign university representative from Pakistan jointly unveiled "Sino-Pak Joint Research Lab for Drug Safety".
To further enhance mutual understanding between the two sides, Prof. Fang Yu (vice dean of school of pharmacy) introduced the history and current situation of school of pharmacy, the main research focused by Drug Safety and Policy Research Center (CDSP), and the progress of the Western China Science & Technology Innovation Harbor. Professor Abdul Latif Sheikh (Member of Prime Mininster Task Force, President/CEO of Pakistan Society of Health System Pharmacists) and other three Professors from Pakistan reported the current research status and challenges faced by Pakistan in the field of drug safety and drug policy. All the participants discussed the development of this Sino-Pak Joint Research Lab for Drug Safety.
In the afternoon, representatives visited the New Harbor and attended the entering ceremony of Western China Science & Technology Innovation Harbor of Medical Research Institute. This academic exchange has laid a solid foundation for future cooperation between China and Pakistan.
