Short-term Cooperation and Exchange Program on the Research in Mechanism of Environment- and Nutrition- Related Bone and Cartilage Diseases and Health Promotion in Silk Road Region

Recently, in the framework of University Alliance of the Silk Road the short-term cooperation and exchange program on the research in mechanism of environment- and nutrition- related bone and cartilage diseases and health promotion in Silk Road region has been completed successfully. Experts and scholars from England, Sweden, Russia, the Netherlands, and some other countries participated this program and contributed to health promotion in Silk Road region by research communication and theoretical and technical guidance. Contents of this program mainly included the following three aspects.

At the invitation of Professor Guo Xiong from Institute of endemic diseases of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), Professor David Abraham, director of rheumatism and connective tissue disease research center, along with Professor Shiwen Xu and Professor markella ponticos from UCL visited the school of public health of XJTU during August 26thto September 2ndin 2019. Teams leading by Professor Guo and Professor David Abraham co-established XJTU-UCL Joint research center for molecular medicine and endemic diseases.

On August 31st, Professor Zhuang Guihua, Dean of School of Public Health, hosted a signing ceremony of the establishment. In the afternoon, anunveiling ceremony of the joint research center was held at the iharhour. Afterwards, Professor David Abraham, Professor Shiwen Xu and Professor markella ponticos gave presentations showing their latest research achievement. Based on common research specialty and interests, both sides reached cooperation agreement on joint cultivation of postgraduates and application for international funding.
