UASR Organized the Online Teleconference on Fighting Against COVID-19 Pandemic

On May 7, 2020, upon the demand of University of Peshawar(UOP) in Pakistan along the Belt and Road in experience sharing in coping with COVID-19 pandemic, UASR Secretariat organized a teleconference on Fighting COVID 19 Pandemic with the support of international department of cooperation and exchanges, medical staff from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU). Professor Xi Guang, Vice-Chairman of UASR and Vice-President of XJTU, Dr. Safdar Ali Shah with HEC Islamabad and Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Asif from UOP were present and delivered the speeches, respectively.

     

Xi Guang expressed sincere greetings to UOP and Pakistani people who are still suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic on behalf of UASR and XJTU. He noted in this moment and in the good spirit of building a community of shared future for mankind is where the key to this unprecedented challenge. He also thanked Pakistani counterparts and its member universities of UASR for their support and encouragement. With concerted efforts, universities in Pakistan would come back to normality in the near future.

Dr. Safdar Ali Shah extended his gratitude to UASR and XJTU for its brotherly backups and helps to Pakistani universities. He pointed out that bilateral cooperation and exchanges between universities in two nations shall be a must in making contributions in jointly fighting COVID-19 pandemic. With the better use of the framework UASR has offered, universities in Pakistan and XJTU would have a fruitful inter-universities cooperation in moving forward Sino-Pakistani higher educational cooperation and development.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asif, Vice Chancellor of UOP, said that he was glad to see that China made the pandemic in a good containment which brought Pakistan confidence and power in gaining the victory in fighting against the pandemic. He hoped that the exchanges of experience by global universities would offer good medical help in local response to COVID-19 outbreak.


During the teleconference, medical experts from both sides had an in-depth discussion and candid exchange of the measures that could be effectively taken against the pandemic. It is true that the Teleconference on Fighting COVID-19 is a renovating measure and crowing success adopted by UASR in the unusual period of time with an aim to implement the Silk Road spirits better and share knowledge and experience simultaneously and globally.
