On September 28, the opening ceremony of the Sixth Silk Road Symposium for Young Scholars of Xi 'an Jiaotong University was held at the Western China Science and Technology Innovation Harbour. The seminar was conducted offline and online simultaneously. 284 outstanding young scholars from 26 countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Canada, Japan, Singapore and Israel, were invited.
Wang Shuguo, Chairman of UASR and President of XJTU, analyzed the influence of the fourth industrial revolution to the university, and introduced Western China Science and Technology Innovation Harbour (iharbour). He pointed out iharbour is designed to explore the fourth industrial revolution form under the background of the new university. It is a global platform for the high-end scientific research and talent cultivating highlands. 29 institutes and more than 300 scientific research platforms have all come here with the integration of the university and the society, cross disciplines, as well as the basic and applied research.
On behalf of the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Shaanxi Province, the director Liu Huimin expressed his welcome and gratitude to participants. He introduced the unique development advantage of Shaanxi province and its development in recent years in terms of the historical geographical condition, innovative resources, industrial system, and the livable ecology. Liu huimin said that Shaanxi province will adhere to the talents-oriented development strategy , and regard talents as the most valuable resource, respect, cherish and care about them. Also, Shaanxi sincerely welcomes young talents to join the developmet of Shaanxi.
Many young scholars also delivered speeches in the symposium. The symposium was established by XJTU in 2015, to enhance global communication and career development. It has been successfully held for five consecutive terms, having invited more than 1200 young scholars from more than 30 countries and regions from home and abroad. It provided young scholars to build a deep understanding of XJTU to have an in-depth understanding of the platform of Shaanxi Province, to attract more young talents to work and start businesses in Shaanxi, and to promote the progress and development of higher education and scientific research in the west.
