Recently, an online exchange meeting under HANSR was held. The meeting was co-chaired by Professor Dinah Birch, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool(UoL), and Professor He Ling from the School of Chemistry of Xi'an Jiaotong University(XJTU). Seven experts from Cultural Heritage Institute of Modern Technology(CHIMT) of XJTU, together with six experts from UoL exchanged ideas on international heritage researches concerning landmark construction, tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

During the meeting, nine experts presented their researches and fruits respectively. Associate Professor Liang Junyan from the School of Chemistry of XJTU showed her research on new composite materials for ancient sandstone protection. Professor Zhang Huqin from the School of Life Sciences shared his research on the genetic structure of ancient human DNA from Neolithic sites in Shaanxi Province, showing the evolutionary history of human from a biological perspective.  Associate Professor Jiang Weile, Chen Qiang and Zhao Yiqing from the School of Humanities, presented their researches in ancient architecture supervision, digital heritage conservation and urban heritage development through videos. Dr. Giamila Quattrone from UoL and Professor Zhai Binqing from the School of Human Settlement and Civil Engineering of XJTU, by using Morocco and Hong Kong as case studies, introduced their researches in heritage conservation and revitalization. Professor Anna Saunders from Department of Modern Languages of UoL, shared her findings on monumental heritage.

Relevant experts later discussed the plans and programs for the two universities in heritage research exchange. Both sides agreed to continue to promote cooperation and development of the discipline through the form of online academic seminars.

HANSR was initiated by the UoL and XJTU. The meeting also serves as one of online academic activities between the two universities.
