On the occasion of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, and with the aim of fully leveraging the platform of the University Alliance of the Silk Road (UASR), deepening pragmatic cooperation and enhancing the alignment of high-quality collaboration in the Belt and Road Initiative with the development strategies of various countries and with regional cooperation initiatives, Xi'an Jiaotong University, as the Secretariat of the UASR, plans to host the UASR Education Cooperation Forum among Universities from SCO Member States on March 18, 2024, in Xi'an.

Themed by “Digital Education in Support of the Sustainable Development Goals”, the forum aims to deepen practical cooperation in higher education. As of now, it has received support from 11 universities and research institutions representing 8 member countries of the SCO, including Lomonosov Moscow State University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Kyrgyzstan International University, Kyrgyz Academy of Sciences, Tajik National University, National University of Science and Technology, Iran University of Science and Technology, Tashkent University of Information Technologies, SCO University, and Xi'an Jiaotong University.

During the forum, the signing ceremony for higher education cooperation agreements among participating universities will be held to promote the mutual recognition of credits among the agreed universities, and the first project under this framework, the online courses named The Path to the Sustainable Development Goals, will be launched.
