Onthe afternoon of June 4th, the final contest of the 2017 Silk Road Robotics Innovations Competition, sponsored by Chinese Association of Automation and University Alliance of the Silk Road (UASR), co-organized by the Secretariat of UASR, Xi’an Jiaotong University, the Department of Science and Technology of Shaanxi Province, the Education Department of Shaanxi Provincial government, and the UNESCO, was successfully held in the multifunctional lecture hall of the main building of XJTU.
After the preliminary contest and the intermediary heat, 16 teams coming from seven countries and regions, including Xi’an Jiaotong University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Hainan University, Zhengzhou University, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Politecnico di Milano of Italy, Bauman Moscow State Technical University of Russia, Benha University of Eygpt, Washington University in St. Louis of theUnited States and severaltechnological innovation-oriented enterprises, launched a fierce competition.
Six teams of XJTU entered the finals, among which two projects -- a brain controlled walking-assisted exoskeleton robot for lower limb rehabilitation and a new type human-computer interaction system based on brain-computer interface took second place. The Embodiment – a robot with tactile and visual feedback, finger function rehabilitation trainingexoskeleton based on continuous multistage structure, and Robotic fabrication system for large-scale manufacturing of Milan Polytechnic took third place. Ten teams from nine universities including XJTU, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Benha University of Egypt, Washington University in St. Louis, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University received “outstanding winner” awards, whileteams fromMoscow Aviation Institute and National Research University Moscow Power Engineering Institutewereawarded the “honorable mention” designation.
