The 2021 I3IEC is co-organized by University Alliance of the Silk Road (UASR), the National Innovation Institute of Additive Manufacturing (NIIAM, China), and Université de Technologie de Belfort Montbéliard (UTBM, France).
1.Theme
The theme of the competition is Creative Design and Innovative Applications with 3D printing. Under this theme, three competitions will be held, namely Creative Design Competition, Innovative Application Competition, and National Entrepreneurship Competition of Magic Note M2 Upgrade Challenge.
1) Creative Design Competition:
Open and independent proposition; design direction includes but is not limited to art and cultural design, home design, urban architectural design, industrial design/product design, mechanical design, etc. Based on additive manufacturing technology. Entries must be original projects specially created for this Competition, without intellectual property right disputes with school research projects or other competitions.
2) Innovative Application Competition:
Entrepreneurship project; project areas include but not limited to additive manufacturing, high-end equipment, new materials and new energy, biomedical, aerospace, automobiles, etc.
3) National Entrepreneurship Competition of Magic Note M2 Challenge:
Proposition competition, upgrade the design of DLP 3D printer. Having the Magic Note M2 3D printer as the background, the participants make innovative design in terms of printer appearance, automatic replenishing device, computer platform development, automatic leveling function of the molding plate, etc. according to the Magic Note M2 rapid prototyping technology and technological principles, and finally submit the innovative product design project as a functional, operational and commercial product.
2. Target participants
1) Creative Design Competition:
Open for everyone, no restriction.
2) Innovative Application Competition:
Solicit the entrepreneurial projects from domestic and foreign college students (including undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral students), start-ups or teams.
3) National Entrepreneurship Competition of Magic Note M2 Upgrade Challenge:
Solicit the projects from the top three participants of the previous Competitions. Note: The Creative Design Proposition Competition for students of vocational education institutions, the schedule of the Competition is being drafted and will be released later, so stay tuned.
3. Registration of the Competition
1) Creative Design Competition
a. Registration: The registration platform will be opened on January 25, 2021. International teams, please visit the English website “http://www.niiam.com/news/i3dc/258” to get and download the registration method and schedule file.
b. Preliminary competition project submission: From January 25, 2021 to August 22, 24:00, online submission of registration forms and project files, and the projects shall be submitted in a compressed file and emailed to I3DC@niiam.cn

c. Final Competition and Award Ceremony: September 10-November 15, 2021, the final competition projects will be submitted online according to the final competition theme and project requirements, and the schedule of the final competition will be announced on September 10. On November 18-20, 2021. The projects will be exhibited, defended, and awards will be presented.
2) Innovative Application Competition
a. Registration: The registration platform will be opened on March 1, 2021, and the project information shall be sent to I3DC@niiam.cn International teams, please visit the English website “http://www.niiam.com/news/” for schedule instructions.
b. Project preliminary selection: July 13, 2021, the Organizing Committee will organize the judges to conduct the preliminary selection based on the project information submitted by the participating team.
c. Preliminary competition: On August 5, 2021, a project roadshow will be held in Xi’an.
d. Final Competition and Award Ceremony: November 18-20, 2021, a presentation for the
final competition will be held in Xi’an.
3)National Entrepreneurship Competition of Magic Note M2 Upgrade Challenge
a. Registration and submission of projects:
The registration platform will be opened on January 25, 2021. Go to Website “www.niiam.com”, click “News & Event” in the navigation bar to enter the competition news page “I3DC”, download and fill in “Registration Form”; from January 25th to June 14th, 24 o’clock, the Registration Form and preliminary competition compressed files shall be emailed to I3DC@niiam.cn

b. Final Competition and Award Ceremony: The schedule of the final competition will be announced on June 28th, and from June 28th to November 15th, 2021, the participants will prepare the projects according to the theme of the final competition and project requirements. On November 18-20, 2021, product demonstrations, presentation, and awards will be held at the site.
