“On behalf of the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, we wish our partners, colleagues and friends around the world health, peace and mutual understanding. In this difficult time for humanity we more than ever have to be united in our actions and decisions in order to stop the spread of the pandemic as soon as possible and find effective measures against the new coronavirus.
With regard to the following situation we would like to underline that UASR has a special unique network with a wide range of members from all the continents. In today’s world we can use this opportunity within the network to share experience, to help each other, to provide support for the nations who are in crisis and the nations who already have practice to cope with the crisis. And the UASR could become an international platform for resolving the most acute and topical issues in the field of international cooperation.
St. Petersburg Polytechnic University fully supports and follows the recommendations of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and the World Health Organization. Today an operational headquarters is working on SPbPU territory under the supervision of the Rector Andrei Rudskoi. It is aimed at the development and implementation of measures to prevent the coronavirus infection at the university. All events involving many people are forbidden, as well as all international events, meetings and business trips have been postponed. There has been limited access to educational buildings and student dorms. Since mid-March 2020 SPbPU students have had distance education. For more information on the situation you can visit a special section that has been created on SPbPU website. This special section as well has an English and Chinese version.
Now there is a crisis all over the world that the community has not experienced before. We all know that a crisis point must be followed by a recovery. And it is very important even in such a situation as we have now to see new opportunities for development. At the Polytechnic University we offer a wide variety of online courses. SPbPU Electronic Library has opened its virtual doors, and everyone who wants can get an access to university publications, monographs and scientific journals. International meetings, seminars and conferences are carried out online - we are constantly in touch with our foreign partners, and we are preparing international events in a new format. We continue to develop international cooperation in education and research and are open to new ideas and suggestions. Our colleagues have already been negotiating an online mode for international student project marathons with our Spanish and German colleagues. And despite temporary isolation we are still in touch, still active and ready to support the development of new projects, initiatives and international educational programs.”
